A formação ambiental dos docentes em um curso de administração

Abstract

The present research intends to evoke reflections about the administrator´s education about environmental issues within the courses in Administration in the higher education institutions in the metropolitan area of Curitiba, specifically focusing on the professors, based on the “Social Representation Theory” by Serge Moscovici. Thus stated, the guiding question was: “What is the social representation of the professors about the environmental education in the Administration course within a private higher education institution in the metropolitan area of Curitiba?” For such research specific objectives were used to investigate the education and representation of the professors to educate for environmental awareness in the Administration course; the directions for this environmental education was verified as to how they were stated in the National Curricular Guidelines for the Administration course; the contributions of this education in Administration to the environmental development were characterized, through content analysis of the competence and ability that characterize the formation of the administrator and furthermore point out the contributions this would have for the research institution on this subject. In such manner, a theoretical reference was constructed taking in account the following aspects: the environmental education, the concept and trajectory; a brief summary of the Administration course to further the understanding of higher education in the country; higher education teaching and the environmental knowledge; the analysis of higher education documents on the subject of environmental education, and finally, a theoretical reference of the social representation was made focusing of theory and methodology. Some of the authors used for this research were Layrargues (2014, 2012, 1998) on which the Macrotrends in Environmental Education was based; Barbieri (2011), Leff (2009, 2002, 2001), Reigota (2014, 2002, 1998) and Porto Gonçalves (2004) were used to discuss the issue of Environmental Education; Covre (1982); Freire (2001, 1996, 1987) and Pimenta (2010) were used to talk about teaching in higher level institutions and Moscovici (2013, 1995, 1978) served as a basis for the Social Representation Theory. The results obtained were impacting, for it was found that most of the higher education professors in the Adminstration department of the institution can be placed in the Pragmatic Macrotendencies, therefore do not teach their students the necessary knowledge to build a transforming environmental education.
