Abstract: Studying the History of School Institutions is to know their paths and evolution, keeping alive the trajectory of a people and an entire generation, promoting belonging and recognition. This research presents a documentary and bibliographic study that is inserted in the studies of cultural history, in the aspect of the History of School Institutions and School Culture. The school culture produced at Colégio Vicentino São José is the object of study, considering that this was the first confessional school raised by Polish immigrants in Curitiba, built next to the Sant’Anna Church, in Colonia Abranches, in the beginning of the 20th century. Since its construction, the direction and guidance have been given to the Sisters Daughters of Charity of São Vicente de Paulo, who offered the community of the Abranches parish an education that they thought was appropriate for the children of Polish immigrants. The theoretical reference was analyzed from the perspective of Dominique Julia, when school culture is seen as all knowledge produced within the school. The sources gathered official documents from Colégio Vicentino São José, with the historical notebooks organized by the Sister of Charity Amélia Sangali, materials from the “Irmã Luíza Olstzynska” Memory Room, notebooks, books and bulletins (1876-1957), as well as her iconographic collection (1886-1975). In addition, the collections of the Memory Room of the Congregation of the Daughters of Charity of São Vicente de Paulo and the Historical Library of the Congregation of the Vincentians were analyzed. The work investigated the teachings of the Sisters Daughters of Charity, who, guided by the charism of the Vincentian congregation, promoted the preservation of Polish culture through the contents developed at the Abranches school. The historical landmarks considered for the development of the research included the name changes of the institution, its expansion, the established routine and overcoming confrontations, in a historical section from 1904 to 1972. As a boarding school, Escola Polonesa São José made it possible to offer the family education for girls, with their own curriculum and marked by the uniqueness of Polish culture. As a seminar, it enabled the continuation of the “mission” to catechize, educate and care for the children and descendants of Polish immigrants in the south of the country. The study showed that, in its trajectory, Colégio Vicentino São José developed a sui generis school culture, with teaching and educational practices for the preservation of Polish culture, based on the communityChurch-school tripod. In its development and expansion processes, it overcame the adversities imposed by the legislation and gave opportunity to girls, boys and young women, in boarding school, training for a future beyond marriage. When Law 5,692 / 1971 was changed, it was recognized as a children's and fundamental school from the first to the final years. The institution continues to perpetuate traces of Polish culture, with Catholic teaching, offering teaching practices in an integral school, in the perspective of the Vincentian charism.
