Abstract: In recent years the growth of students entering Higher Education (ES) and an increase in the number of undergraduate students with restricted reading and writing conditions can be observed. Parallel to the demand for clinical speech therapy. Given this scenario, several areas of knowledge have dealt with this problem, in order to understand how the problems faced by these students can be overcome. It should be clarified that this dissertation was organized from two scientific articles, one aimed at analyzing the production of knowledge published in journals in the area of speech and language therapy, from 2013 to 2017, in the form of case studies that focus on language written and based on principles relevant to the socio-historical perspective; and the second article analyzes the impacts of the speech-language approach to writing, based on the socio-historical perspective, together with an academic inserted in the ES. From article I, it was possible to verify that 17% (353) of the articles were produced as case studies and, among these, 7% (25) deal with written language, 26% (7) of them are based on the partner perspective -historical. It is still possible to affirm that from the therapies and workshops, based on the socio-historical paradigm, the research participants began to conceive of written language as a dialogical activity, re-signifying their positions as reader, writer and speaker, increasing the understanding of different modalities of language. With regard to article II, the data were collected before weekly speech therapy sessions, lasting one hour, during the first year of care with a patient who attends the ES with complaints regarding oral and written language. From the attendance, it was possible to follow a series of changes as to the subjective positions in relation to their reading and writing conditions. The results evidenced a change of posture of the subject in front of the reading and the writing, such condition becomes possible from the attribution of meanings to the use of writing and resignification of the lived practices. At the end of this dissertation, we are certain that it is necessary to emphasize the need for and importance of new studies, practices and research directed also at the academic population in order to consolidate the role of the speech therapist, when facing the difficulties of patients in the as a professional who sees the role of language as constitutive of the subject and that seeks a more egalitarian society. In addition, it is necessary to understand HEIs as institutions of education that serve all, in which students are learners who act with and on language, without other titles than this.
