Análise da linguagem multimodal dos memes durante a pandemia de Covid-19

Abstract

The thesis presents the political memes published on the Internet, from April 2020 to March 2021, at the height of the Covid-19 pandemic. The aim is to select memes that marked the phases of the exchanges of ministers of health, which brought the discussion of the irony of the Federal Government in the face of the difficult situation that the Brazilian nation lived, the social isolation, the denialism of the president in that period and the studies of science in the serious effect of the pandemic. As a general objective, this media agenda is investigated, seeking to analyze the forms of denialist expression manifested in memes, their meaning effects that are produced through social influence. The presented research is qualitative since it seeks a semiotic analysis that imports the content of the memes and their relationship with the context, seeking a discursive analysis of the memes published on the Internet (presenting the multiple layers of meaning) - transmitting clear and scientific information of the situation and/or just produce an understanding of humor in the face of the pandemic situation. Regarding the analyzes of the different memes, we used the comparative method, on the current context, with observation of the population's reaction through social networks, on the subjects about restrictions and rumors related to the pandemic, in a sense of comparison, with emphasis on the various functions of ironies, lies about the chaos of the pandemic crisis and its consequences. Carrying out this study on memes in times of a pandemic means believing in the dimension of the Internet to encourage the production and sharing of this multimodal language that motivates us to participate in this strong communication movement activated by the use of digital networks. Reflect on the use of memes on digital networks not just as a distraction, but as a channel for public manifestation and language discourse.
