Comunicação e trajetória filosófica sobre liberdade de expressão, preconceito e humor: um estudo do especial de natal do Porta dos Fundos

Abstract

The issue of this presentation is to analyze the limits of freedom of expression, prejudice and humor through the 2019 Christmas Special by Porta dos Fundos, our objective is to use a historical-philosophical construction based on the origin of Greek humour, specifically how the comedy and how humor was used. For this, the views of Plato and Socrates of humor and the dramatist Aristophanes will be used, as well as the sociopolitical relationship between their discourses and how they use humor. As the basis of modern philosophy will be Immanuel Kant, Hanna Arendt and Tzvetan Todorov, they will be used for the concepts of freedom, freedom of expression and prejudice. In 2019, Porta dos Fundos, a production company known for creating humorous online content, aired directly on Netflix that year's Christmas Special, in this special Jesus was presented as a homosexual and returning from his pilgrimage with a lover, Mary was would have cheated on Joseph with God and became pregnant and the disciples were drunkards. This content provoked great controversy, with public and religious figures criticizing the special as prejudiced and even criminal. At Christmas that same year, the production company's headquarters were attacked by members allegedly from the Brazilian Integralist Front in response to this special, thus creating another layer in this special controversy. So in this special we will answer the questions: what are the limits of freedom of expression in our context? Does humor have limits? Is the Christmas Special prejudiced?
