Abstract: The empirical corpus chosen for analysis in this dissertation is the film Alita - Combat Angel (2019) by director Robert Rodriguez. The research problem is what would be the heroine's journey model - Campbell, Vogler or Murdock? - applicable to the exploration of Alita's film narrative with her bio-cybernetic body, considering her actions in the futuristic urban context. To demonstrate Alita's profile as a heroine, we punctuate and minute the moments when the protagonist goes through each stage, looking for narrative similarities regarding the construction of the hero. We use academic theoretical research through the deductive method to assist, analyze, compare and quantify the film. The objectives of the investigation were: 1) To contextualize the narrative of the film in a dystopian future, seeking to carry out an analysis of the hero's profile. 2) Analyze and identify Alita's body to the concept of the cyborg post-human body, based on Lúcia Santaella (2003) and on David Le Breton (2013), to establish parallels with similar films. 3) Compare Alita's narrative with the proposals of heroic journey presented by Joseph Campbell in 1949 and taken up by Cristopher Vogler in 1992, to discuss the hypothetical viability of the concept of the heroine's journey in Maureen Murdock (1990). 4) Investigate the technological urban environments of the cities of Alita in relation to Norse mythology and make a comparison with other fictional cities in cinema, with theoretical support in Adriana Amaral (2005), J.D. Barros (2015), among other relevant authors on the topic. In response to the research and hypothesis problem, we conclude that the narrative model used throughout the film is compatible with Campbell's Hero's Journey and taken up by Vogler; because we verify that the protagonist reaches the ends of the Resurrection; however, its conformity according to the heroine's journey conceived by Murdock is not adequate.
