Intervenção com policiais militares: apoio a vítima e crenças sobre a violência contra parceiro íntimo

Abstract

The Police have a fundamental role in guaranteeing the Rights of families experiencing violence, especially violence against the intimate partner. Despite the need to integrate psychological knowledge with this group, few investigations were done on this topic. Considering this, the present study had two objectives: a) to carry out a systematic review on interventions with police on violence against the intimate partner; b) to evaluate the effects of a brief intervention with active police officers on knowledge and beliefs about intrafamily violence. The results of the systematic review indicate an important gap in the literature with most of the works being carried out briefly or even without experimental controls. The second objective was accomplished through a brief intervention with 4 sessions with police officers of Curitiba, Brazil. The results point to the absence of significant changes in the perceptions and procedures with the victim, as well as beliefs about intrafamily violence. The results indicate performance below other professional categories for the instrument of beliefs about violence, requiring a greater approach and training of Brazilian police officers in this area. In particular, future research should investigate the effects of continuous training that can clearly influence behavior during care for families in situations of violence. Finally, it is possible that training that occurs at the beginning of the police career in the corporation can be more effective in the desired behavioral changes in the attendance and cognitive in the beliefs.
