Educação Superior do Enfermeiro Brasileiro: análise do desempenho acadêmico frente ao Enade

Abstract

The thesis has the general objective of analyzing the evaluations of the Undergraduate Nursing Courses carried out by the Higher Education Evaluation System (SINAES), specifically the National Student Performance Examination (ENADE), from 2004 to 2019, with attention to the correspondence between the official assessment devices and the qualitative evolution of nursing training. The specific objectives are: to describe the distribution of courses and students; describe the students' socio-demographic profile and analyze academic performance: overall grade for the cycles, general training grade, specific component grade and course concept. Some public policies of Higher Education in Brazil were studied, the trajectory of the Evaluation of Higher Education in the country, from the first initiatives of organization of an evaluation process, the National System of Evaluation of Higher Education (SINAES), the historical trajectory of institutionalization of formal nursing education in Brazil and the complexity of nursing training, in view of the requirements of the National Curriculum Guidelines for the Undergraduate Nursing Course and the challenges of the Unified Health System in the country. The methodological procedures used were bibliographic research and document analysis. Data were researched in the Area Synthesis Reports - Nursing, of the National Student Performance Examination (ENADE) of the cycles: 2004, 2007, 2010, 2013, 2016 and 2019. The Reports are made available electronically by the National Institute of Educational Studies and Research Anísio Teixeira (INEP). The results demonstrate the need to rethink the evaluation process that is in force in the country, since through the averages and identified concepts, it is clear that we are not managing to train nurses with skills and abilities that meet the National Curriculum Guidelines for the Nursing Course and the Unified Health System.
