dc.description.resumoEsta dissertação centra-se nas possibilidades de identificar os elementos que constroem a linguagem cinematográfica do diretor Selton Mello e de que maneira que eles são produzidos e reiterados, com narrativas e personagens distintos. O recorte efetuado nesta pesquisa problematiza e relativiza a questão da autoria nas obras do cineasta brasileiro, com o foco nos filmes Feliz Natal (2008), O Palhaço (2011) e O Filme da Minha Vida (2017). Outrossim, se procura, igualmente, evidenciar o diálogo intertextual entre os três filmes, ou seja, discernir como esses elementos são reproduzidos e ressignificados nas diferentes criações do diretor. O ponto central desta investigação reside em compreender como se apresenta a linguagem cinematográfica de Selton Mello e, portanto, o objetivo principal é entender as características fílmicas dos trabalhos do cineasta, com o intuito de reconhecer nestes, sua identidade criativa, aqui entendida como as marcas de seu estilo. A justificativa da seleção do referido corpus empírico consiste na exploração de pressupostos teóricos que possibilitem o entendimento da elaboração do trabalho autoral cinematográfico, relativizando-o à luz das teorias mais recentes. Para tanto, a metodologia utilizada para a análise consiste na pesquisa qualitativa de natureza descritiva e método de análise indutivo, cujo foco principal é o processo criativo do diretor, no contexto do cinema brasileiro atual. Assim sendo, o critério de seleção do material analisado em cada um dos três filmes abarca o personagem principal nas cenas de introdução, em situações conflituosas ou naquelas que apresentam uma conclusão para o entendimento do arco do protagonista. A investigação concentra-se na estrutura da linguagem audiovisual dos três longasmetragens e, por conseguinte, se debruça sobre questões estéticas e narrativas; que, por sua vez, tangenciam a reflexão sobre uma possível identidade cinematográfica brasileira. O estudo é baseado nas teorias sobre análise fílmica, com aporte em Francis Vanoye, Jacques Aumont, Robert Stam, Christian Metz, Jean-Claude Bernardet, Manuela Penafria, José Francisco Serafim, Ismail Xavier e Gérard Genette, entre outros teóricos fundamentais que se mostrarem pertinentes para o tratamento mais detalhado da linguagem fílmica, no transcorrer dos capítulos. Como resultado encontraram-se pontos de intersecção nas construções narrativas, estéticas e de personagem. À exemplo, as representações dos conflitos familiares – em especial entre o pai e o filho – um miseen-scène acompanhado de um conceito de degradação e um protagonista deslocado em uma jornada de auto entendimento.por
dc.description.abstractThis dissertation is centered in the possibilities of identifying the elements that built the film language of director Selton Mello and the way they are produced and reiterated, within the narratives and distinct characters. The established limit for this research problematizes and relativizes the question on the authorship of the Brazilian filmmaker’s work, focusing on December (Feliz Natal, 2008), The Clown (O Palhaço, 2011), and The Movie of My Life (O Filme da Minha Vida, 2017). Furthermore, is it wanted, as well, to show the intertextual dialogue between the three movies, in other words, to distinguish how this element are reproduced and resignified in the different director’s creations. The central point of this research relies in comprehend how is it shown Selton Mello’s film language and therefore, the main objective is to understand the film characteristics in the filmmaker’s works, with the intention of recognize in those his creative identity, here known as the marks in his style. The selection justification of the referred empirical corpus, consists in the exploration of the theoretical assumptions the make it possible the understanding of the film author’s work elaboration, relativizing it at light of most recent theories. Thus, the methodology used in the analysis consists in a qualitative research of descriptive nature and inductive analysis method, which main focus is the director’s creative process, in the context of Brazilian’s current cinema. Consequently, the selection criterial of the analyzed material in which of the three movies embrace the main character in the introduction scenes, in situations of conflict or those that present a conclusion, to understand the arc of the protagonist. The investigation is centered in the audiovisual structure of the three feature films, and as a result, studies aesthetic and narrative questions that, in its turn, touch the reflection about a possible Brazilian film identity. This study is based on theories about film analysis with the support of em Francis Vanoye, Jacques Aumont, Robert Stam, Christian Metz, Jean-Claude Bernardet, Manuela Penafria, José Francisco Serafim, Ismail Xavier and Gérard Genette, between others fundamental theorists that presented themselves to be pertinent to a more detailed treatment of film language through the course of the chapters.eng
