O conhecimento do cirurgião dentista da atenção primária à saúde sobre a inter-relação da disfunção temporomandibular e o zumbido no município de Curitiba

Abstract

The study aims to assess the knowledge of dental surgeons primary health care on the interrelationship between temporomandibular disorders and tinnitus in the city of Curitiba. It is a longitudinal quantitative study, using a structured, self-administered questionnaire to a group of 37 dental surgeons working in primary health care. Next, continuing education was carried out on the subject and reapplied questionnaire in the period from January to May 2015. The data presented in this study indicates that dental surgeons who work in primary health care in Curitiba has insufficient knowledge about the interrelationship between temporomandibular disorders and tinnitus, and there was no significant difference in the acquisition of knowledge after the continuing education .This study shows the importance of equipping and strengthening the role of the dental surgeon in primary health care related to the knowledge of temporomandibular dysfunction interrelation and tinnitus in order to minimize these diseases. Also, there is a need to raise awareness among managers in order to establish tools that support health professionals during consultations and aiding in resolution.
